Columbus Day weekend is always a fun time to celebrate autumn in New England. We usually try to rent a cabin somewhere in the north woods of Maine, but this year we stayed closer to home. Skip was out of town for the beginning of the weekend, so we were lucky that Gigi came to stay with us for a few days! On both days we went to local farms - one day to pick pumpkins and the other day to "pick apples and feed goats and go on a horsie ride and drink cider." As you might guess, going to the farms is one of Alec and Liam's favorite activities!

When Skip got home we decided to follow tradition and head north. It was a beautiful day and we planned to go for a hike in one our state parks and look for moose, but when we got there the park was closed for the season! Instead, we walked around a nearby lake, looked at all the colorful leaves, and actually got a photo of all of us, together, looking at the camera:
Say moose!
